Some of the best spent coffee grounds are made by fully auto espresso machines.
They are generally coarser and dryer than the spent grounds your barista will make, and they tend to break down quicker in a compost.
The larger particle size allows for more trapped air pockets, and micro organisms make use of that to multiply quicker and so consume quicker.
Just goes to show – I never met coffee grounds I didn’t like!
