A Victorian Sunset over Bushfires

Summer this year was both brief and particularly brutal. So there was something very welcoming about a change in the weather, particularly when it brought rainfall over raging bushfires.

The smoke drifted along with the clouds and filled the air with a smell of burning wood and dust. It was coming from some place far away, but not too far.

I stared at the sky for a long time after taking this photo, waiting for those first drops of rain to dance under.
