This is what it looks like when an idea gets out of the driveway. The Ground to Ground logo, stuck on the car and heading out into the world. It started as a simple sticker, a small act of advocacy for doing something better with coffee grounds rather than sending them to landfill.

Ok so it’s my car. Still awesome to see it come to life.

I have another 90 of these so let me know how many you need!

Ground to Ground coffee grounds on the car, promoting used coffee grounds recycling

The idea behind Ground to Ground was always about changing habits at the everyday level. Coffee grounds are one of the most wasted organic materials in the modern kitchen. Every cafe, every office, every home is producing them daily, and most of it goes straight into the general bin.

Getting the logo onto a car felt like a small but visible commitment. A moving billboard for a better idea. The kind of thing that might make someone at a set of traffic lights think twice about what happens to the grounds from their morning cup.

If you work in an office and have a coffee machine running all day, the volume of grounds adds up fast. There are good options for putting them to use rather than the bin, and spreading the word is the first step.

The stickers themselves went further than the car. If you want to see where else they ended up, take a look at the Ground to Ground logos in labels post for more of the story. And if you want one for your own car, bag, or cafe window, get in touch.

  1. Hi there;
    Im own coopers pies in Yarrawonga VICTORIA and would like to be involved. We currently use our coffee grinds in our own kitchen garden but love the idea of offering them to our customers also. Can you tell me what i need to do to get involved, ive seen the brouchers and poster and can print them out, but what about the bumper stickers and magnets and any other advice would be great
    thanks

    1. Hi there Kirsty, great to hear from you. Yarrawonga is a nice part of the state but haven’t been up that way from some time.
      I’d be happy to send you some magnets – don’t have any stickers but do have window clings. They are like the P plates that stick on glass, and they look really good. Happy to send you all that stuff, just let me know the postal address, or I can get it off your website.
      As for getting started, there is not that much to it. Just fill the bags that you get the dried beans in, or put a plastic bag into the knock box cylinder. Then you take the bags and put them in a basket near the counter, add a sign or poster, tell some customers, and hopefully you can generate goodwill from like minded people. If you need any help along the way just let me know, happy to help – 0411 012036.
      Thanks again for getting in touch – bye for now.

      2. Hi Kirsty, just checking to see how things are going – if you need any help just let me know.

      3. Thanks, i have put out the flyers and magnets and posters, so far no takers….my next plan is to bag up the grinds and have them ready for people to take.
        We use them in our kitchen garden also and some of our staff take them home for there gardens too

      4. Keep at it Kirsty – once people see what it does they keep using it.
