A half a kilo (1 pound) excess of Azola and Duck Weed is farmed each week from just one of my 200 litre truck tire ponds.
It makes a great cost free supplement for the quail, and they seem to love it. Not sure if it is for the taste alone or for the fact that both these plants have protein levels to 25%.
Love it!

Glad you like it – getting even more now with late Spring sunlight and warming temperatures – more than the quail can handle.

Can you tell us more about how you set up your truck tire ponds? Or post some photos?

Awesome question Hamish – it just so happens that the whole tire pond story is getting posted here in a few days, so keep an eye out for my new articles.

I’m so envious. I tried to grow azolla in a big bucket and it died. So did the goldfish I had in there with it…
